Section 3/7: Is the Bible Reliable?

Mark and Matthew as Reliable as Luke

Bible Bible: Historical Accuracy Bible: New Testament

Luke’s account of the events of the New Testament exceeds every standard for reliability subjected to other historical documents, but what about the other Gospel books?

Matthew, Mark, and Luke, known as the synoptic Gospels, all have accounts that are very similar. Though there are variations in focus—Old Testament prophecies and lineage, for example—Matthew and Mark tell basically the same story as Luke.

If their accounts follow the same general course and content as Luke, who is established as reliable, then it is reasonable to conclude that they are also reliable.
