Matthew and Mark are as distinct from Luke as they are from each other.
Luke reports things like a documentary, putting a name and face on the details. Matthew’s gospel—while not as detailed as Luke—pays special attention to Old Testament messianic prophecy. Likewise, Mark differs from Luke in terms of his focus on the ministry of the gentiles.
Each account is different enough to suggest a different perspective, but similar enough to imply that they are reporting the same events.
