Prayer Practice

Bible: New Testament God Jesus

One way to step into prayer is by using, and even memorizing, the prayer Jesus gave us – called the Lord’s Prayer. Find Matthew 6:9-13 and read the prayer a couple times through. Now, read it again, but personalize it.

For example, “Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name” might become “My Father, who is in heaven, help me to honor you, to understand your holiness.” Or, when you read the part about “daily bread,” you could think of more than just food. God giving us our daily bread means that He meets all of our needs; you could pray about any of your needs (and those of others): emotional, health, work challenges, family situations, etc.

Don't worry about getting it "right" when you pray. Speak to God from your heart, and in your own words.
