Some critics, especially those who are predisposed to
reject any argument which evokes intelligent design before considering the evidence (which we are about to discuss). Because there are “gaps” in much of our scientific understanding of the origin of the universe, and of the world in which we live, believers in a creator God are accused of inventing a “God of the gaps” to explain what science has not yet discovered.
However, many scientists, philosophers, and others who now see evidence for design were not originally church-going believers in God. Many of them crossed over from atheism after looking through telescopes and microscopes - that is, by studying science.
