Modern historians – even those who are not Christians - agree that there was a real, historical man named Jesus.
H. G. Wells, an atheist, spoke of Jesus in his book Outline of History:
“…one is obliged to say, ‘Here was a man.' This part of the tale could not have been invented.”
Will Durant was a world-renowned Professor of History at Columbia University. He devoted two chapters in The Story of Our Civilization to talking about Jesus as a historical figure, the same way he discussed the Caesars.
