There is wide-spread agreement among Near East historians and scholars that Jesus' existence is well-established by historical evidence. Furthermore, there are no indications that the existence of Jesus was ever questioned in antiquity – even by those who opposed Christianity!
Although some contemporary critics deny the deity of Jesus (that he was God) and the tenants of Christian faith, they still overwhelmingly reject the myth theory (the theory that Jesus never existed).
