In addition to claiming to be God, Jesus demonstrated powers that we typically attribute to God. Here are three:
- Jesus demonstrated supernatural knowledge (Omniscience)
On first meeting Nathaniel (who became a disciple), Jesus told him where he’d previously been: "I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you.” (John 1:48)
Even while Peter still felt firmly committed to Jesus, Jesus specifically foretold Peter’s coming denial: “This very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” (Matthew 26:34)
- Jesus demonstrated supernatural power (Omnipotence)
Jesus raised to life a man (Lazarus) who had been dead four days. (John 11:43)
Jesus spoke peace to a storm, promptly stopping it. (Mark 4:35-41)
- Jesus claimed he would be able to be everywhere for all time (Omnipresence)
Jesus promised that He would be with His disciples, in all nations, “to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)
