By saying that he himself was the “Son of Man” from Daniel’s prophecy, Jesus was not only claiming to be God, but also prophesying that he would fulfill his claim by one day sitting as judge over the very people/powers who were condemning him.
By combining Daniel’s prophecy with David’s proclamation in Psalm 110, Jesus was claiming that he would sit on the throne of God and share Divine glory. To the Jews, this was the height of “blasphemy." For this reason “they all condemned him as worthy of death” (Mark 14:64–65).
