We will suffer in this life, and many times we won’t know why. We may question God’s love and faithfulness because it doesn’t seem like any good can come out of our situation. In times like these, Christianity calls us to look to the cross. Even when we don’t understand what’s happening to us, we know that Christ suffered too. Tim Keller says that when we look at the cross, we still don’t know the answer to suffering—but we know what the answer isn’t. It’s not that God doesn’t love us or is indifferent. He is with us.
