But Jesus didn’t suffer and die just so He could empathize with us. By suffering, Jesus actually overcame suffering. The Bible tells us that Jesus bore our sin on the cross so that we might be healed and have new life. Jesus isn’t just a good example or a good friend but “the one who would solve the problem of suffering by suffering, who would solve the problem of death by dying, and in so doing transform the meaning of suffering and death.” Jesus transforms the problem of suffering.
