Many people tend to think of religion in one or both of these two ways:
- All religions are false. There is no God or afterlife. All that exists is the physical/natural world.
- All religions are basically the same. They all point to the same God; they're sort of like different paths up the same mountain.
Many people today believe that no religion has a corner on the truth - if they have truth at all. Some add that religion does not even attempt to make truth claims – that it’s focused only on spiritual matters, beliefs, and faith.
